2024-03-28 Dave Thanks. Just what I wanted. It seems the worry in a previous review about this default permission "Allow this extension to read and change all your data on websites that you visit" has been removed. The only permission it has now is "Change the page you see when you open a new tab" which is just what is wanted.

2023-12-14 Andreas Excellent! Does exactly what I want and nothing else. Set address bar to search with Google before activating addon and check "Enable auto-highlight/select URL on new tab load" and it works exactly is I was used to on Chrome.
2023-09-25 James It just works! 💝 My only nitpick is [#12 on the issue tracker] I wish it could automatically load the "Home Page" instead of needing to be configured separately.
