Safety
Risk impact

Mendeley Web Importer requires a number of risky permissions that can potentially harm your browser and steal your data. Exercise caution when installing this add-on. Review carefully before installing. We recommend that you only install Mendeley Web Importer if you trust the publisher.

Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypass your security settings, and access your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

Risk likelihood

Mendeley Web Importer has earned a fairly good reputation and likely can be trusted.

Risk likelihood measures the probability that an Edge add-on may turn malicious. This is determined by the publisher and the Edge add-on reputation on Edge Add-on Store, the amount of time the Edge add-on has been around, and other signals about the Edge add-on. Our algorithms are not perfect, and are subject to change as we discover new ways to detect malicious extensions. We recommend that you always exercise caution when installing an Edge add-on, especially ones with higher risk impact and/or higher risk likelihood.

Web importer just does not work. Wont let you sign in at all, if it loads properly, have removed and reinstalled multiple times with no luck. Pity because its normally very good.

I'm a fan of Mendeley, but the importer does not import! All I see on a paper's page (e.g. at journals.plos.org) is a little "View PDF" tab with the Mendeley icon. There is no visible way to import the paper. Sometimes when I click the extension's icon in the toolbar a little box with a spinner appears which is too small to contain readable text. It closes itself after about 1 second. If this is related to logging in to my Mendeley account it needs to be persistent enough to interact with, needs to say what it is, and needs to indicate success or failure. I'm using Edge on Windows 11 Pro.

The web importer has synchronization problems in my case and it is quite annoying sometimes
