CookieBlock

Automatically enforces cookie consent preferences to protect your privacy.
What is CookieBlock?
CookieBlock is an innovative Edge add-on developed by the Information Security Group at ETH Zürich. It leverages advanced machine-learning technology to classify cookies into categories: 'Necessary', 'Functionality', 'Analytics' and 'Advertising'. Users have full control over which types to permit or reject. Unlike annoying cookie banners, CookieBlock needs only a one-time policy setup, ensuring the cookies you disapprove are indeed purged. It works universally, not relying on website hosts' candor, and enhances your browsing experience by maintaining your privacy.

CookieBlock is a browser extension that allows you to automatically remove cookies that do not respect your privacy. Through the use of advanced machine-learning technology, it categorizes cookies into four distinct purposes. These are "Necessary", "Functionality", "Analytics" and "Advertising", which the user then has the power to permit or reject individually.

Unlike nagging cookie banners that interrupt your browsing experience, CookieBlock only requires that you define your policy once, and guarantees that the types of cookies you reject are actually removed from your browser. Moreover, CookieBlock works on any website you visit, and does not rely on the honesty of the website host.

As a result, CookieBlock perfectly complements extensions that seek to remove annoying cookie banners from your browsing experience, allowing you to preserve your privacy at the same time.

This add-on has been built by members of the Information Security Group of the Computer Science Department at ETH Zürich, and was developed as part of the master thesis: "Analyzing Cookies Compliance with the GDPR" (https://www.research-collection.ethz.ch/bitstream/handle/20.500.11850/477333/Bollinger_Dino.pdf)

It is also featured at the 31st USENIX Security Symposium: https://www.usenix.org/conference/usenixsecurity22/presentation/bollinger

Deletes unnecessary cookies without user intervention. That's what I'm looking for. It could be standard on all browsers! Recommended accessory! You may be able to display the number of blocked cookies. Then I would consider it completely flawless. ( Felhasználói beavatkozás nélkül törli a szükségtelen sütiket. Ez az amit keresetem. Minden böngésző alaptartozéka lehetne ! Ajánlott kiegészítő ! Esetleg kijelezhetné a blokkolt sütik számát. Akkor teljesen hibátlannak tekinteném. )
