"Custom New Tab" is an Edge add-on that allows users to customize the new tab page by pointing it to any URL or local file. With no tracking and minimal footprint, it provides users freedom to set their preferred homepage, whether that's Bing, Google, a local HTML file, or even a blank page. You can easily focus the cursor in the address bar or keep it on the page. Disable the extension anytime via edge://extensions, ensuring a seamless experience tailored to your needs.

Edge does not let you customize the new tab page. The new tab page always opens a custom Bing page, and Edge extensions do not work on this page.
This extension lets you point the new tab page to a URL of your choice. It can be Bing.com, your company's homepage, or a blank page. It is lightweight on your browser (<50kb - compared to, for example, Grammarly, which is 36MB), has no tracking, and is straightforward to use.
You can also set it to a local file path like file:///C:/Documents/test.html . You can set the URL to an internal page like edge://apps too.
Customization:
Focus on the address bar on the new tab page: When checked, the focus and cursor are in the address bar when you open a new tab page. When unchecked, the focus is on the page.
FINALLY!!! Thank you so much for this. It actually works for local file urls! I finally have the home, start and new page I want in Edge on my Windows 10 and 11 laptops! The only thing I cannot get to work correctly is the option for "Focus on the address bar on the new tab page". Checked of unchecked, my new tab focus starts on the address bar. Because it allows me to use my own local html file, I still give it 5 stars. :-)
