Add-on summary
If you're like me and you have a hard time reading dense text on a web page, then this extension is for you.
This is a simple, minimal extension originally built to help me read long paragraphs of programming documentation in a clean modal window optimized for readability.
To use this extension, simply double-click the text you wish to open inside the modal reader on the web page.
Text inside the modal reader is designed to view 45–75 characters per line which is considered optimal for reading according to typography theory—along with low contrasting colors to reduce eyestrain.
Other features include:
- system dark mode detection,
- inserting line breaks after sentences to improve readability,
- responsive web design to adapt to your browser window width,
- an indicator to highlight elements that can be opened inside the modal reader and
- copying text to the clipboard automatically whenever the reader is opened.
