2022-07-20 | Nunya | I already use foobar2000 and Mp3tag as graphical front-ends for transcoding, so don't really have a need for a browser-based solution, but thought I'd try this one just to see how well it works. Well, it's not perfect, but it does work. It's using lamejs, a simplified version of the LAME encoder written in JavaScript, so the resulting MP3 quality is excellent, albeit not as optimized as it would be if you used the real LAME encoder. Also, the input to the encoder is whatever your browser would deliver to the OS during playback of the input file, so it is affected by system audio settings. My OS is set to output 48 kHz, so with this tool, a 44.1 kHz input file results in a 48 kHz MP3, which is not ideal. It would be nice if the tool would warn when such a conversion has happened. Other than that, though, it's pretty cool. | |
