Single Window (open links in active window)

Single Window (open links in active window)

Do not allow popup windows. Open all links in the current window

What is Single Window (open links in active window)?
The 'Single Window' add-on for Edge is designed to enhance user navigation by enforcing a single-window mode. When enabled, it prevents websites from opening links in pop-up windows or in new extensions, instead directing all new links to open in the existing active window. Users have the flexibility to enable or disable the add-on easily, and it does not obstruct opening new windows through keyboard shortcuts or interfere with private browsing and extension windows. 'Single Window' ensures a more streamlined browsing experience, effectively managing multiple links.

Summary

This extension prevents web pages from opening pop-up windows of any kind. When the extension is enabled, all newly opened windows will get directed to the active window (in the currently active window before this window gets opened). You can toggle the extension on and off from the toolbar button to enable the single-window mode or disable it. When the extension is enabled, all windows are forced to stay in the same active window. So if a website issues a popup window, instead the extension moves the newly created popup window into the active window and then focuses on this newly created window (same as dragging a tab from one window to another window). When the extension is disabled, popup opening is permitted.

Notes: Even if the extension is enabled, the user can still open new windows using Ctrl + N or Command + N shortcuts. Also from the 3-dot -> New Window menu. This extension does not intercept incognito (private) windows. This extension does not intercept extension windows (extensions are still permitted to open. their popup windows).

Version Log: 0.1.3: The new tab will get focused. Now you can use command-line tools to open in a new window and get your tab focused 0.2.0 Moves to manifest v3

User reviews
The functionality works fine. However, I usually keep three windows open when I shut down. On start up, several tabs are moving to a different window. To confirm it was this extension, I disabled it and restarted and it did not occur. I would be happy to make this a 5 Star Extension if this can be fixed.

This extension solves the missing Edge feature to open new browser windows in a new tab.

Thank you for this. Makes educational websites so much better. I don't understand why these websites think I want a seperate window, but this fixes it.
