I also had the issue of MS Edge turning off the extension but the first time I attempted to download it threw a warning and failed. The second attempt was successful. It also still fails to be enabled upon installation.
After enabling, I adjusted the extension setting to "Allow this extension to read and change all your data on websites you visit" to On Click from All Websites, it appears to do exactly what I wanted. This extension should not need to read nor change my data. Please explain the necessity for this setting with this extension. Giving the extension the ability to read/change data goes against what I understand to be the purpose of using DuckDuckGo. I apologize if this is just the default for all Edge extensions. If that is the case, you might want to explain this behavior in the description of New Tab DuckDuckGo Redirect to assuage user's fears and the steps to adjust the setting to be more secure. I'd give 5 stars were that the case.
I've used the DuckDuckGo search engine for years instead of Google or Bing because it doesn't censor your search results like the other two. Nice try turning it off on installing the extension, but I turned it back on. I don't mind using Bing for most searches, but when I'm searching a touchy subject I will still use DuckDuckGo.
Brilliant
